Insurance Basics for Guests
Why Insurance is important when you rent
At MyVenueSpace, we believe that transparency keeps everyone safe. As a Guest, you should expect that Hosts will carry the right insurance for their property and event type. But it’s also important to remember protecting yourself and your attendees is ultimately your responsibility.
Other platforms may overlook or brush past these topics. They often do this to simplify the experience or avoid difficult conversations and move you through the booking process quickly without asking questions. Yet in reality, it creates risk for Hosts, Guests, and even the platforms themselves. There are actually law firms today that specifically search for people who have been injured at events hosted through platforms that did not require proper coverage! We don’t want that risk for you—or for our Hosts.
What You Should Know!
All Hosts on MyVenueSpace are required to confirm that they carry (or will carry via Event Day Insurance) the appropriate insurance coverage for the venues and events when they list their property. As a peer-to-peer marketplace platform MyVenueSpace does not require Hosts to provide proof of insurance to us during the process, and we do not actively monitor or verify individual policies.
Because every property, Hosts and event is unique, we encourage Guests to ask their Host directly about insurance coverage during the booking process. This open communication helps ensure that both Hosts and Guests understand what coverage is in place and can make informed decisions about any additional protection needed for their event.
Commercially Listed Host Properties:
Hosts that operate a business (such as a commercial space, farm, inn, or overnight lodging locations) on their property will typically have commercial liability insurance. We ask these Hosts to ensure with their policy holder that their policy extends to cover events hosted at their location.
Residential Listed Host Properties:
Homeowner’s insurance does not cover events. Residential Hosts can protect themselves—and you—through Event Day Insurance. Some Residential Hosts will elect to run their Venue rentals through an LLC which will allow them to obtain commercial liability insurance.
Your Role as a Guest
It is your responsibility to protect yourself and your guests. You are always welcome to ask your Host about their coverage. If you have questions or concerns about your event or Venue, ask the Host.
Your Host may also ask you to carry your own Event Day Insurance, depending on the type or size of your event. This isn’t unusual—it’s a smart way to make sure everyone is protected. If your Host requires Event Day Insurance, you’ll find links to recommended providers below.

Peace of Mind for Everyone
We want your event to be memorable for all the right reasons. That’s why we encourage open conversations about insurance between Hosts and Guests.
We also encourage you to do your homework and avoid platforms or companies that don’t support proper event coverage. If a service isn’t talking openly about insurance, it often means they’re shifting the risk back onto you.
When booking on any platform, if your Host already has coverage in place, you can feel confident knowing you and your guests are protected. It’s always better to be safe. The right coverage means that if the unexpected happens, everyone has peace of mind.
